Huawei's On-site Cooperation For Network-based Optical Energy Storage Testing And Demonstration

On January 16, 2023, the New Energy Research Center of China Electric Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the Electric Power Research Institute of Qinghai Electric Power Company of State Grid jointly conducted on-site tests of the Huawei grid-forming photovoltaic-storage system at the Huanren Jiufeng Photovoltaic Power Station in Qinghai Province using our company's equipment. The project team, based on the demands for grid security and stability in a high proportion of new energy environment, completed a series of tests such as parallel stability of the grid-forming system, single/continuous fault ride-through under high/low voltage conditions, primary frequency regulation and inertia response characteristics with high standards and strict requirements, marking the successful conclusion of the first on-site test of the grid-forming photovoltaic-storage system in the world. This test work is an important milestone in the development of new energy technology, proving that compared with traditional grid-following new energy power generation systems, grid-forming new energy power generation systems can play a key role in strengthening grid operation characteristics and achieving high renewable energy targets.
